Here's a quick introduction to 3x3 Eyes (Sazan Eyes), a manga series which will
soon be made into an OAV series!  Yeah!

     Yakumo's father is in Tibet, looking for members of the legendary 
"Three Eyes" race.  He eventually finds one called Pai.  Pai (who is some 300 
years old but looks like an ordinary 15-year old human girl), wishes to become
human.  Yakumo's father dies before he can fulfill her wish but he tells her
that his son can make her human.  It takes Pai four years to find Yakumo in
Shinjuku, Tokyo.  Anyways, Yakumo is almost killed by Pai's pet monster bird,
"Takuhi".  In order to save Yakumo's life, Pai makes him her Wu(*).
The down side of this is that now Pai and Yakumo's lives are inextricably
bound together.  Simply put, if Pai dies, Yakumo dies.  However, there is a
solution - if Pai is made human then Yakumo will also become human.  For this 
purpose, Yakumo and Pai set off to Hong Kong, in search of "Monster Buster,
Inc."
     
I can't summarize everything so I'll list the major points:

 o  Pai's race was almost completely wiped out by the notorious "King Devil
    Eyes", an extremely powerful and evil "Three Eyes".  He declares himself
    king of the "Three Eyes" race and ruthlessly destroys all who oppose him.
    Pai seems to be the only "Three Eyes" with enough power to resist him.
 o  It took the power of Pai's entire race and the help of "Shiva, the
    destroyer" to banish Devil Eyes to another dimension.  Pai is the sole
    survivor of the final stand against Devil Eyes. [ed: awesome fight!]
    This battle took place approximately 300 years ago.
 o  Now, it looks like Devil Eyes will return from his exile, thanks to his
    Wu, Benares, who apparently was not banished along with his master.
 o  Pai's purpose is completely changed when she finds out about the return
    of Devil Eyes.  Becoming human is no longer her priority - she must
    destroy Devil Eyes first.
    
Footnotes:

*  A "Three Eyes" can take the life of one person in his/her life.  This person
   will become his/her Wu (pronounced "ooh" as in "shoot"), a personal
   bodyguard.  After a "Three Eyes" exercises the powers of his/her third eye,
   the third eye must sleep for a couple of days during which the "Three Eyes"
   is vulnerable.  This is why a "Three Eyes" requires an Wu.  Note than an
   Wu does not necessarily have to be human.  For example, Benares, Devil
   Eyes' Wu, is a demon.  An Wu is completely indestructible but will die
   if his/her master dies.
   [ed:  When I say indestructible, I mean indestructible.  At one point,
    Benares was blown into tiny itty-bitty pieces by Pai.  It tooks Benares
    a week to regenerate his body back!]
